The Challenge

Aware of the importance of crystal-clear communications for its guards and teams on site or during events, Definitive Security needed reliable, robust radios with excellent battery life and a high IP rating for use in all weathers. Definitive also needed a partner who understands their needs and from whom they can purchase a fleet of radios for fixed contracts and hire varying numbers of radios at short notice for events. Definitive has been working successfully with Audiolink for many years, and, having previously equipped its teams with earlier Motorola Solutions handsets, its teams are now using one of the latest MOTOTRBO digital radio models, the DP4800e Digital Portable Two-Way Radio.

The Solution

Definitive Security either rents or buys repeaters from Audiolink for fixed sites or larger events, concerts or festivals; Audiolink conducts site visits and surveys and installs the systems. At smaller events Definitive often uses the radios back-to-back (in direct mode), so they effectively act as walkie-talkies, with no hub or repeater installation; the flexibility to use the MOTOTRBO radios in this way is obviously very cost-effective.

Definitive Security has purchased a permanent fleet of DP4800e radios from Audiolink and hires any others it needs for events. Audiolink supplies the radios with MOTOTRBO IMPRES™ long-life batteries. Definitive uses the radios for individual and group calls, with the option of various groups being set up on numerous channels. Subscribers can also use the DP4800e’s emergency button to connect straight into the dispatcher’s base station, the transmit interrupt function for priority calling in case of incidents and the integrated lone worker, to enhance safety for any team member operating away from the rest of the team. Definitive also rents various MOTOTRBO accessories from Audiolink, including two-wire covert earpieces and heavy-duty headsets, to protect users’ hearing and improve communications in high-noise environments.

Audiolink has a dedicated account manager for Definitive and provides all-round service and support, from training to telephone support and on-site support if needed; and any faulty or broken handsets are replaced immediately. (Audiolink supplies the radios it rents in steel flight cases, for added protection during transit.)
