A summer of film: supported by Audiolink
Firstly, Audiolink supplied communications solutions on set. Indeed, Audiolink has fixed MOTOTRBO networks in place at both Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, and nearby Pinewood Studios in Iver Heath. The systems were configured to meet the exact requirements of each film, with regards to radio users, talk groups and functionality; and teams, many of whom came from overseas, were equipped with a mix of Motorola Solutions DP4400e / DP4600e digital radios and GP340 UHF radios with covert d-shaped earpieces, smartphones and dongles. Audiolink has such an extensive pool of repeaters, radios, phones and accessories that it is always able to support numerous simultaneous film productions. Audiolink also has great experience with complicated frequency planning, to ensure each film has excellent audio and coverage, whilst not suffering any interference or cross-over with other productions or film units on site. This is essential for security, availability and privacy.
Secondly, Audiolink provided a range of communications solutions for these films both on location in the UK – at sites including St Paul’s Churchyard, Knebworth House, Northumberland, North Yorkshire and Glasgow – and further afield on location in Italy and Sicily. As well as temporary MOTOTRBO networks, Audiolink also successfully deployed the Motorola Solutions WAVE PTX™ Push-to-Talk over cellular (PoC) service in some venues, to keep all the teams successfully connected across wide areas.
These carefully configured and conceived systems and solutions supplied robust, reliable, secure communications for increased operational efficiency during filming. This ultimately saved time, improved safety and boosted crew productivity.
** As a testament to the huge experience and long-term relationships Audiolink has built within the film industry, it also provided radio systems to the first three films in the Indiana Jones franchise: Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). It seems fitting, therefore, that Audiolink supplied the systems to support the filming of the final hurrah for this well-loved adventurer and archaeologist! **
