Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is a 2023 American spy action film directed by Christopher McQuarrie from a screenplay he co-wrote with Erik Jendresen. It is the sequel to Mission: Impossible – Fallout and the seventh instalment in the Mission: Impossible film series. Dead Reckoning Part One sees Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt, whose IMF team are confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful foe known as ‘the Entity’.

The ensemble cast also features Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Esai Morales, Vanessa Kirby, Pom Klementieff and Henry Czerny.

The Challenge

With initial filming being interrupted by Covid, and only being released in July 2023, this blockbuster has been a long time in the making. Indeed, filming stopped and started seven different times from February 2020 under three different production companies. Despite these challenges, Audiolink worked alongside the crews during the whole journey, to ensure teams had effective, reliable communications throughout, wherever they were located, whatever the changing requirements.

The Solution

Indeed, as is to be expected with the action-packed, high adrenaline Mission: Impossible franchise, filming went far beyond the walls of the Leavesden and Longcross Film Studios, where Audiolink has fixed MOTOTRBO radio systems in place. Audiolink also supplied successful communications systems across locations in Italy, Norway and Abu Dhabi, with up to 800 radios being deployed at any one time, often in areas with challenging terrain and extreme temperatures. Specialised radio flight cases, local frequency allocations, surplus accessories (spare batteries for extreme cold, for example): these types of requirements are all in a normal day’s work for Audiolink, who has nearly 50 years’ experience in the film and television industry.
